They are not tax advice, rates and ceilings change, declared allowances and company rules can alter a payslip, and any point marked unconfirmed should be checked before relying on it. Enter a gross wage and the pay period and this calculator shows the two statutory lines on a Barbados payslip, National Insurance and income tax (PAYE), with the employer's National Insurance beside them, the net pay and the total cost of employment, in Barbados dollars.
National Insurance in Barbados is really eight contributions collected together: National Insurance, Non-contributory, Unemployment, Employment Injury, Severance, Training Levy, Health Service Contribution and Resilience and Regeneration. For private-sector employees they add up to 11.25% from the employee and 13.00% from the employer (from 1 April 2025) on insurable earnings up to the 2026 ceiling of Bds$1,238 a week or Bds$5,360 a month, rising to Bds$1,258 / Bds$5,450 in 2027. The calculator shows them as one line with the breakdown in the note.
PAYE starts from the Barbados Revenue Authority's basic personal allowance of Bds$25,000 (tax code 250W/250M; employers withhold from pay over Bds$481 a week or Bds$2,083 a month). The rates, 11.5% on the first Bds$50,000 of taxable income and 27.5% above from 1 January 2026, come from published summaries because the BRA's own tables online are dated 2022, so they are prefilled in editable boxes and labelled unconfirmed; change them if your figures differ. National Insurance is not deducted before tax here.
Pensioner and other declared allowances are not applied. The Rules panel lists the sources, dates and the unconfirmed points.

Private-sector employees pay 11.25% and employers 13.00% of insurable earnings (24.25% together) from 1 April 2025, covering eight funds including the Health Service Contribution and the Training Levy. Insurable earnings are capped at Bds$1,238 a week or Bds$5,360 a month for 2026, so the maximum employee deduction is Bds$603 a month.
A basic personal allowance of Bds$25,000 a year (tax code 250), per the BRA Guide to PAYE; employers withhold PAYE from employees earning more than Bds$481 a week or Bds$2,083 a month. Pensioners aged 60 and over have a higher allowance, not applied here.
Published summaries give 11.5% on the first Bds$50,000 of taxable income and 27.5% above, effective 1 January 2026 (down from 12.5% / 28.5%). We could not find the rates on a BRA page, so they are prefilled as editable figures and labelled unconfirmed.
The BRA guide does not state a deduction for employee National Insurance, so this calculator does not deduct it: taxable income is the annualised gross less the Bds$25,000 allowance. If your payroll deducts NIS first, your tax will be a little lower.
The National Insurance rates, components and 2025-2027 ceilings are official (NIS Barbados); the Bds$25,000 allowance and withholding thresholds are official (BRA). The PAYE rates and the Bds$50,000 band are secondary and editable. Dates and links are in the Rules panel.
